Harnessing Technology for Effective Communication and Productivity in Postgraduate Research

About Us

Dr Muhammad Naveed Akbar was recently awarded a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) by the University of Glasgow, with graduation currently in progress. His doctoral thesis will soon be available through the University’s Enlighten Repository.

Dr Akbar’s doctoral research explored doctoral students’ perceptions of the drawbacks of technology during their studies, examining how engagement with digital technologies influences research progress, academic development, and student wellbeing. The study employed a mixed-methods explanatory sequential design, collecting data from doctoral students across the United Kingdom through a large-scale survey followed by in-depth interviews.

The research contributes to the growing understanding of the complex relationship between technology use, doctoral education, and student wellbeing. Findings from the project have already resulted in multiple peer-reviewed publications, with additional journal articles currently under review and in preparation.

Alongside his work in educational research, Dr Akbar also holds a PhD in Synthetic Organic Medicinal Chemistry from the University of Strathclyde. He continues to publish research and review articles in the fields of organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, and broader biomedical sciences.
